The Filtran LLC research and development group has two primary purposes: first, to maintain the high performance of our existing products and second, to design, develop, and test innovative new products. To that end, we have assembled a team of design and manufacturing engineers, metallurgists, and chemists working together to develop the most advanced filtration products for automatic transmissions. These filters offer the latest technology media contained within robust design housings now available to the automotive market.
Filtran LLC is widely regarded as the industry leader in suction and pressure side media for transmission filter applications. In collaboration with designers, engineers and manufacturers worldwide, we work to develop assemblies (automotive as well as non-automotive) that utilize plastic or plastic and metal housing in concert with advanced fiber or fabric filtration media.
The foundation of our engineering and design capabilities is our unique method of forming metal, plastic and filtration media into a critical component capable of withstanding the intense heat and stress in an automatic transmission. Whether the application calls for a standard grade media or high tech woven or non-woven material, our engineers and designers have the expertise to devise the proper solution.
At their disposal is a broad range of design tools allowing our engineers to conduct both structural analysis and flow analysis for every product. Design capabilities include a portfolio of tools such as 3D solid modeling, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), SuFis™ (proprietary suction filter simulation software), and FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
Skilled die makers, designers and technicians provide a variety of prototype options including SLA (Stereolithography)/SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) rapid prototypes, CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machined and production intent components. These variations help our customers validate design, form, fit and function for new applications. As a result, customers are able to judge the performance of a critical part under actual working conditions.

An important segment of our business is the Filtran Technical Center (FTI) , located in Stillwater, OK. At FTI, we conduct extensive laboratory testing and component assessment for the development of our own product. Additionally, FTI along with our OilTracker™ business unit offers commercial testing services such as contaminant assessment, testing materials, and fluid analysis.
